Treading the world alone was like entering hell itself - every corner there would be a predator waiting for a feast, every second one was at risk of being shredded apart by tooth or claw. All the nests in the world were taken and every inch of land posessed by other species, we were destined to face doom and be to picked off by the world built too large for us. At least that was what fate intended for the rat race. If the world and those within it were too big, then the small needed to gather, and that was what they did. Forming a powerful colony, we have vanquished fate and learned to prosper over our odds. No fate and no destiny can control us now that we are stronger than ever before and together, finally, rats will thrive and live without having to worry about the possibility of tomorrow.

Nestled beyond Riverclan borders there is an aged cabin hand-made by Standups (humans) built of wood logs and panneling, this is what we call the Structure. With it's windows shattered, it's front door unhinged and frame long worn down by the forces of nature, it has long been abandoned and is now home to The Colony. The second you step past the doorframe you enter Colonial territory, but the true camp is not the inside of the Structure, but rather, within the walls and skeleton of the building. There are many holes in the wall where you may enter and tunnel through the internal body of the Structure. There are many rooms in the Structure, but they are almost entirely empty with the exception of a bed frame, a futon and a singular wooden table next to the unhinged door which greets you upon entry
The Attic is considered to be our main camp. The door leading to The Attic is closed, locked and rusted shut so the only way to enter is through the wall holes that lead to and from the cabin skeleton. The Attic is filled with boxes, trinkets and Standup items. There is a singular window from the attic and upon its sill is where the Chief sleeps and makes their announcements. In the centre of The Attic is where the food rations are stored.

It is a well-carried tradition to have the leader earn the title of Chief. Their old identity is left behind as they take the role as our supreme Chief, all past faults and failures erased to carry on The Colony. No child is to be born Chief. Once the Chief ceremony is done, the Chief's old name is never to be mentioned againThe Chief has the final word.
It is expected for the Colony to be responsible enough to learn to cooperate and to know their placement among the pack. Whenever Colony-wide choices must be made, Colonials may discuss between one another but it's the Chief who pilots the final decision. The Colony comes first.
No matter what the situation may be, The Colony comes before the self. It is your responsibility as a member to ensure only the best is offered to your people and it is your responsibility to remain loyal to them. Mothers and Pups must be fed first and in dire times your rations must be sacrificed for them. Never
offer food to the Chief, it is their responsibility to manage themselves and ensure that The Colony is placed before even themselves.Anything larger than us are enemies.
For generations before the formation of this Colony and generations after, larger beings have threatened our existence time and time again. No one larger than us are to be treated kindly, they are to be challenged by our sentries and driven away from our territory.Cats are not to be meddled with
Many who wander near felines are often doomed to The Maddening Disease. For the security of our Colony all cats spotted must be driven out at all costs. Open wounds from cats must be treated immediately, anyone who fails to treat feline wounds jeopardizes the Colony The Mad and The Doomed are to be slaughtered
If one fails to report a cat attack to a Doctor and gets infected with The Maddening Disease, there is absolutely no other option but to execute them for the sake of The Colony. The Maddening Disease cannot be cured and will only spread. If a case is met, they are to be executed far from the Structure.
When a member grows old and begins to swell unusually, they are considered Doomed. The Doomed will live as long as they can function but once their masses exceeds manageable sizes, they are to be executed to cease their suffering and in order to not waste valuable food rationsAbsolutely no violence among Colonials
We have united as a people for a reason, to be safe and secure. Fighting among one another will jeopardize that order. There shall be absolutely no fighting among The Colony, all disputes must be settled with words or through a Banter. Violent acts will earn violent consequences.OOCPlots, litters and joinings must be communicated with meMark any thread with 'The Colony'

When a Deputy becomes Chief, all members are excused from their duties for a day to celebrate. They gather within the Structure where every member takes turns to groom the new leader and call them by their new name. The newly appointed Chief goes on a week-long fasting where they do not eat, a test to their strength and the fact that the Chief is always fed last. if the Chief before the new leader passed away, the newly appointed Chief sits vigil through the first night. Naming
It is tradition to name pups after something, whether it is based off their appearance, their behaviour, a relative or family friend, it's typical for a clan-born rat to have a symbolic name which is representative of something.Bantering
When a dispute is left unsettled even without words, two rats may initiate a Banter. This is a non-violent fight between two individuals where killing, maiming and fatally harming your opponent is prohibited, but minor wounds allowed. Banters must be supervised by the Chief or a Deputy. The victor is determined in a Banter if a rat has pinned the other down for over five seconds or if one submits.Absurdist Atheism
Before The Colony, we were victims to fate and the cruel world. We were meant to be spared, to be given meaningless lives to act as fodder to larger beings. But now The Colony has risen, and we are beyond fate. We do not believe in any greater power, fate, destiny, or an afterlife. This is our life and our only life and must be treated as such. The world around The Colony has no meaning, it is chaotic and forever will be, but with this one life we wield, we make the best of this purposeless universe. The Mad
The Maddening Disease is transported by cats and can infect us rats. When infected, it impedes on their cognition. They become obsessive, repetitive, senseless, aggressive and impulsive. They become fatigued, feverish and begin to seize. When infected, these rats are considered Mad and are meant to be executed. The Maddening Disease can be contracted through feline faeces, but for extra precautions, we treat every wound inflicted by cats. The execution of The Mad is to take place beyond the Structure, by the Chief.
(The Maddening Disease is Toxoplasmosis)The Doomed
Doom is another disease which affects us rats, but the cause is unknown. Any rat can become Doomed, often times in adulthood. When Doomed they begin to swell in concentrated regions and they continue to do so until the victim is immobilized and impeded greatly. Out of mercy, The Chief executes The Doomed who have become unable to function probably. Doom does not spread to other rats, but it can spread to other parts of the Doomed's body.
(Doom is cancerous tumours, common in rats)
