StarClan

Pyrestar
RiverClan Leader || Tom || 54 Moons
It must have rained here, he thought, as his paws passed over slick and moss-covered rocks and the dark tom set his eyes on mother mouth with a faint sigh of relief. It had been a fairly straight forward trek there, the Thunderpath had been silent and merciful, the rain had lifted long before they arrived so his senses remained unclogged by the soft scent of dew and watery grass.

He wasn't so stupid as to think a lucky trek was a sign from StarClan, but he welcomed it nonetheless given how much the clan had been up-heaved as of late. It was on confident paws he strode forward, glanced back to those accompanying him and waiting patiently for their arrival forward. Per tradition he would go in only with a medicine cat, that being Patchpaw, but he was almost tempted to allow Lakepaw in as well because her commentary on most things was always amusing.

The dark tom closed his eyes, embraced the brief moment of peace out here away from the trials and tribulations that filled his clan. There was no dead dog scent present, no fearful apprehension at the sight of the long-legged and white phantom who was his previous deputy.

But they would return quickly, he had been nervous enough leaving s it were, but felt it would do good to get some kind of consultation from someone. Beartooth's bloody form still lay in the medicine cat den, Fawntrot trying his best to make the old tom presentable for vigil, but he wondered vaguely if they would see him here, now...

RiverClan

Everything was so different, and yet so similar. Lakepaw stuck close to the twins, pools of blue entranced by the sights before her. Her nose was wet, as she had stuck it in the grass much like a dog would to get a better scent from the strange smelling grass. She hadn't been in Riverclan long enough to experience rain, and so it left her curious as to where the water came from.

Unknowing she wasn't allowed in, the she-cat stuck her head into the caves entrance, her mouth hanging open out of awe and curiosity. "Is this where Moonstone lives?" She squeaked, turning back to the patrol for answers.

Brothers | RiverClan | 19 moons

The journey wasn't as long or difficult as the twins had expected. The Thunder path seemed very quiet and wasn't the dangerous life threatening obstacle as is was always described by cats who crossed it. The cats spent a lot of time looking around at their new surroundings, it wasn't until this that they realized there was a whole world outside of their camp they had never experienced before. They felt like they were kits again, seeing the world for the first time.
As they approached the Mother Mouth the two brothers jaws dropped in awe. This was where StarClan was. They both exchanged glances. They were wondering if their sister was among the ranks of StarClan, when kits died did they grow up to become warriors? Or was Southkit going to forever be Southkit. They both sat down at the entrance nodding to Pyrestar as he walked in.
"This is indeed where Moonstone lives." Eastcreek nodded to Lakepaw

RiverClan

She had never been in the presence of the Highstones without other medicine cats. But still, against an already dark sky, the mouthermouth stood out with the sheer intensity of its shadow. It was imposing--enough so to ward away those who did not have true business being there. It was quieter amongst the cavernous stones than it was anywhere within the four territories. No twolegs disturbed the stagnant air. Even the crickets seemed apprehensive. Somewhere far above the group of travelers was the moon; its wan light gave everything a gentle, rounded appearance. The grass was cold, and Patchpaw could no longer smell honeysuckle or dense moss. Instead, stone hung heavy all around. She had never been more aware of the earth. The calico smiled graciously at Lakepaw and the brothers. She wondered how their indirect exposure to such a sacred ground would resonate with them, and she felt lucky that she should be granted regular exposure to a salient silence so encompassing.

Once she and Pyrestar entered the cave, tradition stipulated that they remain quiet, unspeaking. The apprentice knew that the leader must have been here before, in order to receive his nine lives and his new name. In many moons, Patchpaw would return to codify her status as a medicine cat. But the nature of this visit was distinctive. It seemed to be, in the wake of Permafrost's actions, bordering on a consultation, one that could not wait for prophetic dreams. She set down what remained of the herbs she had brought, leaving them at the paws of the three RiverClanners "Help yourself, should you need them. They'll help stave off hunger and joint pain." She looked kindly at Lakepaw, who enraptured the clan with her jubilance and antics. Patchpaw felt unprepared to lead Pyrestar. What did she know about StarClan? About sacred spaces and gestures that had withstood the assault of time? The answer was simple enough: nothing. But Patchpaw knew how to observe, how to appreciate; she knew that if, every once in a while, she held her tongue, she could learn a great deal.

The core tenet of healing was trust. Trust was to be placed in her by her clanmates--trust that she would help them, that she could help them. And she was to trust things that exceeded both her scope and her senses. She was to trust nature, to trust herbs; and she was to trust StarClan. Patchpaw breathed deeply, shutting her eyes as they had surveyed the spacious entryway before her. Her thoughts quieted, as if out of deference to the moonstone. Once the two entered, there would be yet another exchange of trust. They would have to embark on a meandering sojourn through labyrinthine tunnels, relying not on sight but on touch to guide them. And they would have to trust each other, in the enveloping silence, regardless of who followed who. She stood beside the leader, resolute. "Whenever you're ready," the medicine cat apprentice felt her heartbeat quicken before it slowed once more.

His smile was dismissive, his interest flitting from the apprentice to his surroundings briefly as he listened to prattle of herbs and the like but the medicine cat apprentice had his full attention quickly. Turning back to face the other fully the expressionless line drawn upon his maw only extended out to curve beneath his eyes and lift up the scar that ran jagged along his right cheekbone into a calm smile.

He wanted to ask 'are YOU ready?' given Patchpaw's obvious apprehension but he felt the joke would be lost to the younger feline, instead, "Let's go." Was the airy response, his tone tilted up into a curious tilt as he caught a glimmer of something beyond where the others stood but quickly brushed it off as a trick of the mind.

He was anxious, seeing things, hearing things, the sooner they moved into the mouth of the cave the better. Cautiously the domestic took a step to the side, idly moving about in place before turning with a flick of his tail to descend down into the cold and dark depths of mothermouth. Seemed a skittish fellow, bit of an awkward daze to him, but friendly.

It was eerie how just how quiet it got the further you drew into it, the soft drip of water and echoing steps had lead him to begin conjuring his own noises within his mind.

Patchpaw's demeanor, how she held himself and how she spoke, rang so familiar to him; as though he were looking into the very past. Before his fall from grace, before the blood lust.

Here was the naive and goodnatured kitten he once was so long ago, a trite and stupid little thing that believed the world to work like a mesh of cogs neatly pressed together and grinding in sync.

When really it was all one collaborated mess of nonsense and you had to either guard your own back or find yourself face down in a pool of your own blood.

Now that he was looking harder at the youthful feline following quietly behind him he realized that youth was fleeting and it was like a sharp stab to the side. Pyrestar stopped walking, tail sweeping low behind him and tongue darting out to casually run across his teeth.

"Do you know how it works? Has Fawntrot brought you here before?" His paws teetered at the edge of the great pool of water at the center of the cavern, how it was filled by only a single consistent drip from the stalagmite at the center of the room, one single sharp point had decided the fate of this place, had filled itself to be part of the clan cat's lives.
