All she knew was that her name was Echo. Echo. Echo. Echo. It always resounded in her head, true to her name. It also did at the time when her mother had abandoned her for good. Nothing more than a hiss in the kits ear as a farewell. "Goodbye, Echo. I hope that your death isn't too brutal for one so young."

The last thing she had heard was her mothers pawsteps trailing away with a newfound confidence of having gotten rid of Echo. She was nothing more than a burden and she had known it since she was born into a litter of healthy kits, except for her. This was the case because Echo had been born blind. A very hard disability to have in the wild, making her mother cast her out from love and affection, and more or less let her suckle just enough milk to get by, before officially getting rid of her.

Even if she was so young, she knew it'd be better for her mother and didn't blame her for getting rid of an unwanted kit like her. Because of the malnutrition, she also knew she was a very tiny kit at that, but she couldn't help it. Ever since her mother had left her in who knows where and left, Echo had been forced to just get up and walk out of sheer will. Stopping when it got quiet and the sun wasn't harsh on her back, and sniffing out particular roots she had been taught were safe.

And she had walked. Nothing more than her other sense, heightened because of having no site, to guide her. All she could guess was that she was in a mountainous territory. The land uneven and harsh, hardly any shelter or roots to even dig out. She could tell it was a harsh terrain. But even still, she walked out of pure will to survive. She knew if she didn't, she'd die. But even then, she was dehydrated and hungry. With the sun so high in the sky, she felt too hot.

Her tiny limbs shook with effort, and the small kit eventually collapsed out of her condition. She panted from pushing, and pushing, and pushing for days. She didn't even know how many had passed at this point. She just hoped whether she died, or a miracle would happen soon. She was so, so tired. Unknowingly, her white and pale sandy fur blended in with her surroundings as she slumped into a minuscule little lump.

As a deputy, Wolfstrike was often occupied with many tasks and continuous burdens,
none that he would complain about of course. Hunting trips, border patrols and the likes, he had done them all and continued to do so, something that came naturally to him. The least he would hunt was three times a day - once in the morning, second in the evening, thirdly before nightfall and currently, it was the time for him to fulfill his morning hunt.
Dusk left the scarce coniferous forests of the mountaintops illuminated with violets and pinks embracing the slate wintery environment that was desperate for colouration and life. Like auroras, the many shades danced along the little inches of snow present and it encapsulated every edge so beautifully, so intricately, stirring nature awake.

The gigantic tom trekked onwards, his muzzle high in the air to catch whatever scents that would drift through the light leaf-bare breeze that floated along, a light frown furrowing his features as one was caught, however, not one of prey but rather... He sniffed and huffed.

A child. The taint of stale milk within the aroma was enough to inform him of the fact and quickly,
the deputy quickened into a bouncy canter allowing his nose to guide him through twisting terrain until finally, his olive eyes would settle upon a minuscule lilac lump, for a moment he froze, whiskers twitching as he observed the little body, assessing wether it was prey or not, but the instant he caught faint tabby stripes he was drawn over, a thick chocolate tail gliding overtop the little creature before him as he'd lower his cranium, nudging the little thing to assess responsiveness.

"It's alright, little one. I won't hurt you."

The burly deputy would assure in his deep, slightly accented tone that was oh so hushed with gentleness.

"Can you hear me?"

She didn't know how long she had been laying there. Just that she felt what little strength she had to being with slowly seeping out of her bones. She was so, so tired. She very vaguely picked up on pawsteps approaching, wary at first, before they turned and sought her out. She almost didn't register the tom's presence until he nudged her gently. More than likely just for a sign that she wasn't already food.

She let out a tiny, pitiful mewl. Her throat raw and dry from dehydration, so it was almost nonexistent. "I can hear you." She whispered with as much strength as she had left. She didn't know what else to do. She felt herself slipping away, but if this was the miracle she had been waiting for? She'd gladly hang on with all her might if it meant something... better. She didn't bother opening her eyes, for that was too great of an effort to, so she just let herself shift slightly more towards the tom.

As the quivering, mewling thing below him would give a response, as choked and as weakened as it was it left Wolfstrike flooding with relief. A heavy sigh drew itself from his lungs and he was quick to gather the little body close to himself in a defensive manner, paws concealing the kitten from any foreign eyes as his eyes would dart to and fro, scanning for a potential guardian, a parent,
anything to come forth wailing for their missing child. But no.

His ears fell back and he would nuzzle the girl gently, a soft purr sounding through as he went to reach for the child's scruff.

"Keep breathing. Hold on. I'll keep you safe."

He'd attempt to comfort before his words were silenced now that he'd lift the child from the freezing ground, turning on his heels to quickly return to camp, incredibly mindful and cautious of his steps to ensure the ride was not all too bumpy for the ever so fragile creature he carried.

Fortunately, camp was not too far and he was soon to arrive, quickly coming to a halt next to the medicine den's entrance before he'd lower the girl, curling himself around her body before he'd call to any prying ears;

"There was a child left at the borders! She's alive, she needs water. Can someone fetch me some?"

He'd cry out, voice booming through to make himself clear to any nearby ears, hoping the volume was intense enough to grasp at least someone's attention.

Cherrykit

Kit | She-Cat | SkyClan

where had he gone.
He always did this. There were often times Cherrykit awoke nestled comfortably into Applebloom to go search for her father, Wolfstrike, only to find him no where in camp. She hated that he disappeared so often. She remembered back to the night of the gathering, how she had followed him and ended up in a pit of strangers. Why on earth would someone want to go talk to those they didn't know.
With flattened ears Cherrykit waited patiently in the center of camp. Wolf was her only playmate. Her siblings were alright but Wolf was always better to play with. He was big. Soon enough Cherry caught sight of his massive form entering camp. The tiny kitten was overcome with a sense of excitement and she rushed to greet him.
Thats sense of excitement was soon snuffed out as the scent of someone new entered her nose. She stopped in her tracks, ears flat against her head as she watched him carry this new kitten toward the help den.
smelly
Cherrykit approached quickly as Wolfstrike set the child down, however before she got to close she stopped. Eyes wide and wild, claws unsheathed and a low audible growl beginning in her tiny throat. She crept forward ever so slightly, eyes locked onto the stranger.
mine she thought in reference to Wolfstrike.

Staccato had been around camp, circling around his secret and keeping himself from spilling it before he was certain. Still, when Wolf burst into camp, the small tom was taken aback by his urgency. With the mix of the child and his mate's concern, he missed the movement of the lips asking for water. However, he paused next to Cherrykit, briefly glancing at the child - he couldn't tell she was growling, but his attention flickered from one child to the next, and he sat next to Cherry without a second thought.

He was nervous around others, but Cherrykit was important to Wolfstrike, so... he swallowed his fear and stayed next to the white child, head tilted at the little one.

"Who's this?"

He wondered, glancing from the strange child to his mate, concern painted on his pale features to match the concern in Wolf's stance.

she'll play it and make it sincere

SkyClan

pitayakit

i am so much more than royal

pit hadn't exactly slept at all during the day. she had woken up at sunrise, when the morning patrols went out. of course, applebloom and wolfstrike would likely scold her for being such an early riser, but she couldn't help it. it was one of those days - the days when she was filled with endless energy, and she felt like nothing could drag her down. the days where she felt like running through the camp, all the caves and dens, everything, and she knew that type of energy wouldn't allow her to nap until it was all out. so she just... lounged around the nursery, curled up with her siblings, waiting for the 'appropriate' time before she could begin to wear off this excess energy.

she saw the opportunity arise when she caught motion out of the corner of her eye. cherrykit was moving, getting up to go... somewhere. to be honest, she found cherry strange. she didn't talk, she acted as if she couldn't understand her. it was odd - pit and peach were speaking, running around, but cherry just stuck with that... weird ghost thing that followed her. nonetheless, cherry was her smaller sister, she felt a duty to protect her. or at least make sure she didn't have fun without her.

getting to her feet (and totally not tripping over a stray piece of moss that decided to wrap itself around her paw), she chased after cherry, halting rather quickly when she caught sight of wolfstrike. mentally, she had referred to the fluffy tom as her father. after all, she didn't seem to have one - applebloom never mentioned their dad, and no other tom came around besides wolfstrike. therefore, he was officially-not-officially her father. she decreed it. but that's not what made her stop.

what made her stop was the small bundle of fur in front of him. another. kit. for a moment, she was confused. what was this? it was grey. kits weren't grey... at least she had never seen a grey kit. she had seen herself, a torbie, and her sisters, with their pure white pelts. she didn't ever see any other kits in the nursery, either, so this definitely was new. creeping closer, she halted next to cherry, who's fur was fluffed and who's growl was slightly startling to the other.

she creeped forward, slightly past cherry, keeping herself low to the ground to seem less... big, she supposed. pit was a rather bulky kit, and she remembere how wolf had kept himself low to the ground while meeting her for the first time. pit figured she might as well do the same to this small kit. she didn't necessarily like the idea of a new kit, though. would she take wolf's attention away from them? would that horrid smell end up investing the entire nursery? she couldn't help her nose wrinkling at the smell of... of... not skyclan. yeah. that was the best way to describe it.

Ashstar had heard Wolfstrike's call before she'd seen him, so she'd collected some moss and soaked it with water. The black and white molly ran back quickly so the water wouldn't spill out, and appeared in time to see Cherrykit begin to growl. Ashstar ignored this though.

"Here," Ashstar purred, looking to the new kitten with a soft smile. "Drink this. It's water." It made the leader sad to know that some kittens were abandoned. She hoped that wasn't the case here- maybe the parents had just gotten lost on their way back. She'd remain optimistic, for the kitten's sake. Nobody wanted to know that they'd been abandoned. "Come with us. We'll take good care of you back in camp- we have food and more water. We'll look for your mommy too, let her know you're alright."

Cherrykit appeared and brought along with her a disposition of defensive aggression targeted towards the little mewling girl he had rescued. Immediately the sight of threats targeted towards a kitten drew forth a guarding urge within Wolfstrike and a tail curled around the minuscule child under his paws, hiding it away from the deaf girl's eyes before he'd lean forth in an attempt to offer a nuzzle towards Cherrykit, hoping the approach would reassure her of his good intentions and that this scene was nothing to fret over.
Thank stars Pitayakit remained more neutral through this exchange.

The voice of Staccato chimed through the air and it immediately redirected Wolfstrike's attention, wide olive eyes turned to settle overtop of his mate's frame, a glimmer of affection reaching them the minute their glances locked before he'd quickly start to mreow an explanation.

"I... Do not know."

The silver tabby would murmur, ears flattening at the reminder that this child was foreign, lost, abandoned probably. Oh poor thing.

"I found her, she was left on the borders. She was freezing and she needs-"

It was the Ashstar approached, her black and white frame slipping into the scene with the supplies he had demanded for and immediately she earned a bow of deep. innate respect.

"Thank you, Ashstar."

He'd paw at the moss ball that was soaked with fluids, rolling it over to the little lilac child by his side,
offering a gentle lick overtop a cheekside in order to entice the female into trusting the provided gift.

"Do you need anything else?"
