The Clans were still in the bitter of leaf-bare; even the five tall oak trees which previously flushed green had felt the effects, now only twisted skeletons without their precious leaves. However, today was a special night. The moon was high in the sky, StarClan's sign that the gathering was to be held. Silverpelt glittered with the bright stars of ancestors long passed, providing comfort and warmth as the Clans made their journeys to the Fivetrees.

The hollow itself looked unchanged, aside from the gradually melting snow as it made way for newleaf. Arriving cats may notice how the steep edges of the clearing were slippy, or how the leaders may have difficulty climbing up the Great Rock whilst it was covered in an icy mess, but it was still the same old gathering place that it had always been.

A time for peace and unification, the Fivetrees hollow remained an integral part of Clan life. Let's hope tonight is no different.

SkyClan

It was the brute's second gathering as a deputy, but his very first under his new name,
now a fully formed clan cat that was integrated and welcomed into the complex, vast culture. He had never felt more proud of anything else in his life, it was probably pathetic considering it was just a warrior's name, sure, but to the former tribe dwelling feline it meant the world to be welcomed by Starclan.

As the full roundness of the moon hung heavy in the skies, the classic tabby male knew it meant it was only time for another gathering to mark the new moon and so he appeared at the five trees, standing by where Skyclan was meant to gather as a tall, quiet presence, waiting for the scene to fill with clanmates and strangers alike to discuss what they may under the cradling night's sky

do you know the line i'd walk for you?

RiverClan

walking at the helm of his clan's party, hollowstar paused at the top of the hollow to look down upon the fivetrees clearing as he usually did. it seemed riverclan was the second to arrive that cold night, preceded only by skyclan.

gesturing with a wave of his tail to continue, the long-legged tom slowly began to inch his way down the slippery incline. "careful," he called over his shoulder to the cats who walked behind him. "mind where you put your paws, it's icy tonight."

he spoke too soon, watching in defeat as hab tripped halfway through his warning and tumbled head-over-heels the rest of the way down the hill. he sighed and spared a glance to burnout, as if to say why did you bring him home, again?, before trotting carefully the rest of the way to make sure the plump former kittypet was all right.

hollowstar made a beeline for the great rock as the rest of his clan dispersed, spreading out to mingle with acquaintances from the other four clans. spying a familiar face, hollowstar paused beside the skyclan deputy and inclined his head in a respectful nod. "hello wolf. everything in skyclan been well?"

Cedarheart swallowed a quiet chuckle as Hab tumbled head over foot down the icy slope. Of course he'd choose the moment after Hollowstar's warnings to slip, though inwardly he knew that it was by no real choice of his own. Hab was a good sort, but he was unfortunately as clumsy as Daisyfall. 'At least he's in good company,' the cinnamon tom mused.

He slowed briefly as he passed Hab, eyeing the kittypet to ensure he found his footing again, and sauntered off after his brother. He'd been crossing these icy trails since he was an apprentice. Ice wasn't much of a concern any longer.

The cinnamon-furred deputy came up behind his leader to blink a friendly greeting at the SkyClan cat who sat waiting. "Wolf," he acknowledged casually, brushing aside the excess snow to make room for himself and Burnout- whenever the serval was done untangling his mate, that is. At least Hollowstar's mate had been left behind tonight. The ice wouldn't have done Brightcloud any favours with that injury. The next time she'd see a Gathering, she'd either be swollen with kits or stealing a moment away from her litter.

The deputy fluffed his fur against the chill of the wind as he waited for the other Clans to arrive.

This was, unsurprisingly, Dusty's first gathering.

The Thunderclanner was glued to his mate's side, ears pinned back and head held so low that it was a wonder the coyote could walk without bumping into anyone. Sure, he had been encouraged to try and be a bigger part of Thunderclan (having shocked and saddened his mates with his quiet admission that he never did feel like part of the clan), but the gathering was a ... well, a gathering. Even though it was intended to be a gentle, peaceful time, he couldn't help but feel like he was out of place. Even though he smelled thoroughly like a Thunderclanner, and was more sheepish than even a three-legged coyote should've been.

So, terrified, Dusty practically stood over Southskies, following the other with fear striking his heart.

SkyClan

Ashstar was already climbing- well, frantically grasping at the rock with unsheathed claws more like- the Great Rock when RiverClan arrived. She watched with surprise as Hab tumbled down the steep slope, before trying her best to stifle a laugh. That would be too rude. Instead, she decided to call down to the fallen RiverClanner, "Are you okay?".

Looking up now, the black and white molly waited for Hollowstar to join her on the Great Rock. "It's a cold night, isn't it?" she shivered to the other leader, silently cursing her short fur. "I can't wait for newleaf to arrive."

Thunder

The ThunderClan leader carried herself with a unusually high sense of purpose. Something that had not been seen in the leader for some time. Arcticstorm had returned, declaring her wish to return and raise her kits here. Emberblade returned shortly after, vouching for his sister and her story. They had been completely exiled from BloodClan. After many moons of being apart her family was finally reunited with itself, and even though Coalstep might be not be able to remember any of it, having him there meant all the same.
Leaf-bares gentle breath still hung drastically in the forests air but Silverstar could feel it was almost coming to an end. The silver Bengals steps were quick and agile through the trees, leading her clan to the over the hill and to the clearing. Her eyes scanned the few cats that had already arrived, inhaling a gentle and somewhat automatic sigh of relief; she had been doing that a lot lately.
Silverstar maneuvered her way happily through the crowd and toward the great rock where Hollowstar stood along with his deputy and Ashstar along with hers. "Wolf, Ash, Cedar, Hollow." The ThunderClan leader greeted, dipping her head to each of the high positions before her. "I hope SkyClan and RiverClan are fairing well, the river is no longer frozen over, I hear." She commented. It was a good sign that new-leaf was right around the corner.

River
Dreampaw made her way excitedly behind Hollowstar, forcing herself to keep pace with the larger leader. Her first gathering, she could hardly contain her excitement. Her tail quivered happily as the clearing suddenly came into view. there were already a some new cats she had never met before! Who knew the forest was so vast with its collection of inhabitants. Her eyes fell upon Wolfstrike, she definitely recognized him. He had been there to greet her when River and Sky had an exchange program. She could never forget such a big and beautiful cat! Her smile grew wider and she eager followed after Cedar and Hollow, coming to a slow stop just before the gathered high positions. Dreampaw felt the sudden urge to hold her tongue, they were obviously talking, but Dreampaw wanted to say hi to Wolfstike. It had been almost a moon since they'd seen each other.

Sky
Owlsight followed after Wolfstrikes massive form, the elder keeping her pace steady but quick as not to hold up her clan. As she allowed her paws to carry her through the thick part of the forest Owlsight tried to reminisce on her first gathering. The elder let out a gentle laugh, knowing the memory of her first gathering ever was long gone. It had taken place dozens of moons ago. How was she supposed to be expected to keep track. The familiar sight of the fourtrees greeted the elder and she felt a smile form across her face. With a nod to Wolfstrike she made her way to the center of the clearing. Owlsights gaze scanned the trees, waiting for the rest of the clans to appear from the foliage and underbrush. The elder couldn't help but notice the appearance of a coyote. Owlsights spine tingled only out of instinct, it was obvious he was a part of ThunderClan. The elder was met with sudden curiosity, feeling as if she wanted to approach him, but he seemed timid and frightened, she wondered if it might be a bad idea.

SkyClan

A sleek, leanly built ebony tom would emerge from the shadows, a feline in which Wolf would recognize as Hollowstar, the Riverclan leader. As deputy of Civil Affairs he had aught to be familiar with the other clan leaders, which he certainly was, but Wolfstrike had actually been able to speak to Hollow and meet him in person during the member exchange so once the tomcat came to greet him the regal thick-furred deputy offered a respectful bow towards the man's way, minding the clear status of the higher ranking male.

"Hollowstar, it is delightful to see you again."

The maine coon would respond before his head would lift again, his olive eyes meeting with the leader's emerald ones.

"This moon has certainly not been uneventful. A mix of good, a mix of ill-fate. There's a new litter running about, as for the unfortunate aspect?... I feel like it is not my position to speak of it. Certainly, Ashstar will if she deems it necessary."

The gigantic brute's gaze now went to flicker over towards his leader, staring up at where she stood with an air of sympathy in his gaze - the ill-fate he was referring to was the conflict between her and Nightmist, something that had left her so stirred he felt it would be ungentlemanly to bring up.
As Cedarheart acknowledged his presence, Wolf would return the action with a low bow.
"Cedar,"

Ahead of Dusty, Darklingpaw was a little standoffish, waiting already at the bottom of the slope with a serious expression set into her features. Ready, perhaps, to pin someone with a look should they gawk at the coyote, even though Southskies would invariably be the queen of withering stares. Guard duty was an odd look on the typically quiet apprentice, and truthfully, she wasn't quite sure where else put herself.

Passing by the soft looking RiverClanner that had gone sprawling down the slope, she paused. She considered Hab for a moment, expression inscrutable. After a glance over her shoulder, the dark-coated apprentice leaned over to whisper to him.

"You okay? Someone usually trips down there. I figure we all do it at least once."

When she pulled back, she had one feline brow arched a little wryly. Oh, maybe it was a small lie. Ears swiveling, she kept an eye on the gathering, still on edge.

GET THEE TO A PSYCHIATRIST!

RiverClan

Hazelspots fluffed up her fur. It was very cold, much too cold for a gathering, but it was being held anyway. At least she was a full RiverClan warrior this time, and wouldn't be treated like a unknowing kit. In an attempt to go down the ice-covered slope, she tripped over her paws and ended up sliding down, her back leg slamming against the ice. She felt a slight sting from both the impact and the cold, but minded the freezing feeling more than the pain. She hated the cold. She longed again for greenleaf, when the water in the camp was warm and lovely, the fish were plentiful and plump, and she could swim to her heart's content alone.

She picked herself up off the ground and continued into the clearing where the rest of the clan cats were catching up with old friends. She sat down on the very outskirts of the boisterous, big crowd, hoping no annoying new apprentices would try to talk to her. She gazed up at the Great Rock. Even the leaders somehow have the energy and resolve to chat in this freezing weather. She sighed. I guess that's why they lead.

Suddenly, among all of the mixed cat scents that were flooding her senses, she smelled a different scent as well as large footsteps. The scent was...

"A...dog?"

She suppressed a hiss as the creature approached closer and closer to the cats. It didn't look like dogs she had seen before. Although the large canine had cats looking comfortable near it, she still didn't trust the creature. She got up quickly and stalked towards it, seeing if she could figure out its intentions.

希望 the high priestess

ThunderClan

Trailing after her mother, little Seedpaw made her way once again into the breathtaking, awe-filled clearing for her second gathering, the five great oaks devoid of all leaves but still formidable and noble in all aspects. She noticed the crowds were remarkably tighter now that WindClan was here, and the rapidly closing space had the air thick and stuffed with a myriad of scents, making it a little difficult for the molly to breathe. Out of the corner of her eye, she took notice of Dusty cowering over Southskies on the sidelines, and a rush of sympathy relaxed her taut, stressed expression. Weaving her way through the oncoming waves of cats, the young medic padded over to sit by the couple, offering the coyote a reassuring smile before sitting at his side.

My own worst nightmare

Members

Huh. There was a coyote.

Supernatural didn't actually care all that much. She knew about the former Windclanner, and knew her half-blooded aunt was mates with him. Perks of having super senses, she supposed -- she was vaguely aware of him, but... well, to be frank, Hab falling down was making her dangerously close to smiling. But the twisted black medicine cat didn't smile, so she schooled her face and found a spot not far from where the leader's sat, her crooked jaw actually helping to keep her grumpy walls up before the rest of the however-many-clans.

勇気 the chariot

SkyClan

With great, fluid bounds teeming with the anticipation and excitement that fluttered in her chest, Strawberrypaw burst into the clearing at Wolfstrike's heels. Now that she was no longer plagued by illness as she had been at the previous gathering, the apprentice was now back to "normal" - in other words, bursting with pent up energy, evident in her excited little bounces and quivering body. The flame-furred apprentice maneuvered her way through the tightening crowd to sit at the front, seemingly unbothered by the numbers. Once there, she plopped down unceremoniously, casting a signature toothy grin up at her mother as she stood atop the Great Rock. How cool would it be to stand up there and look over all five of the clans at the same time? She would have to come back here another day to try it.

do you know the line i'd walk for you?

RiverClan

it had been several moons since hollowstar had spoken with wolf face to face, and seeing the burly tom-cat sweep into a low bow didn't fail to surprise him as it had the first time. it didn't show on his face though; hollowstar, as ever, was a master at schooling his features into whichever emotion he felt appropriate. so he offered wolf a smile and a bow in return, though his was small in comparison. not by a lack of respect, but because the motion felt awkward. it was a strange custom to the native warriors to the forest, but returning the gesture felt... right. he only hoped wolf wasn't offended by his stiff rendition of it.

whatever ill-fate had befallen skyclan was overwritten by news of new life. kits were always a good sign of prosperous times. thinking of his own mate back in riverclan, pregnant with their kits, hollowstar smiled fondly. it was small, and a little lopsided, but a smile nonetheless - and such a thing was often rare in the company of cats who didn't belong to his clan. "that's good news!" he answered, half to wolf and half to ashstar. the latter had drawn his attention halfway through wolf's speech, pulling hollowstar's gaze up to where she perched on the great rock.

wolf turned to acknowledge cedarheart with a bow. using that as an opportunity to slip away and find his place on the rock, hollowstar murmured a soft goodbye and hauled himself onto the great rock. it proved difficult at first, his paws slip-sliding along the slick surface, failing to find purchase.

from behind came the sound of silverstar's voice, calling out greetings to the high positions that were beginning to gather. hollowstar's ears twitched back, but he didn't have a reply until he'd managed to scramble on top of the rock alongside ashstar and wrapped his long tail neatly around his paws.

"riverclan is doing very well." he admitted. a small, widening smile began to spread across his face before he could stop it. "my mate is expecting kits." the news might have been saved for when they each gave their own announcements but, unable to contain his excitement, hollowstar felt pressed to admit it now. the rest - the attack on their camp by a strange assailant and a dog, the recent floodwaters that had nearly drowned hollowkit, could wait.

"what of thunderclan?" hollowstar turned to ask silverstar, blinking slightly worriedly at the thunderclan leader. "the river has begun to flood with the recent thaw and rains... i hope thunderclan territory hasn't been affected too greatly." a pause as darkness swept over his face, drowning out the light thinking of his unborn children had brought. "i heard that foxscar and spottedlegs left thunderclan."

southskies watched, and waited, and held her breath. it felt like her eyes didn't leave dusty once in the short hour it took thunderclan to reach the gathering hollow. her mate was jumpy the entire walk, but the closer they neared to fivetrees the more agitated he became. more than once southskies considered stopping and asking him to turn back; thought about coming up with some excuse that she needed to return to camp, knowing dusty would follow if she went.

but she also knew he needed to go. as terrifying as it would be at first, her mate needed to step out of his comfort zone and realize the clans wouldn't hurt him. it wasn't just because he was a member of thunderclan under silverstar's protection - it was also because he was her mate, and damn whoever thought they could harm a hair on his head.

dusty hovered close as she led the way into the hollow, where the crowd of clan cats was growing by the minute. it seemed thunderclan was the third to arrive, just behind skyclan and riverclan. southskies watched a plump red tabby trip and fall, darklingpaw scampering over to check on the fallen tom. he seemed fine, so she moved on - too concerned for the male at her side to consider checking in on a fat, kittypet-looking warrior who belonged to another clan.

finding a seat off to the side, carefully sequestered away from the main cluster of cats, southskies settled down. she brushed her tail against dusty's shoulder, hoping the motion would soothe him into a sit. "dusty, relax, nobody's going to-" a cat approached from across the clearing, making a beeline for them. the she-cat smelled of fish, her yellow gaze blazing here it fixed on dusty. the suddenness of it startled southskies, the words she meant to say drifting off. automatically the fur along her spine bristled as her shoulders tensed. it was instinct that made her stand and take a step in front of dusty, eyes narrowed on the approaching warrior in a silent warning. don't even think about it.
