A looming gateway stood before him, an entrance to old memories and old pains that he had no interest in revisiting. There were some snakes in the garden that one should leave be, the giant ones that bite and leave scars to remind you of your own stupidity. That was the word popping and exploding in his mind, a looming feeling of how idiotic he was to allow these events to unfold. Somehow his brain had approved of them, at some point in time this whole thing had seemed like a reasonable decision. Now, as he stood gawking at the doorway he regretted every choice that lead him to that exact moment.

The woman entrusted with his life wasn't aware of the nightmares hidden under lock and key, stuffed in the room behind the door he was watching. Left unaware of her vile offspring's occupancy and his lover's manipulated social profile, solely due to Taurus' secret keeping. He kept the truth from her to get the visitation approved, more worried about his companion's health then his own. Any of the one armed fiend's repressed anger would only be a repeated of some past abuse, like a skipping record of pain and anguish that Taurus already memorized.

Telling people things was not something he'd learned to do yet. He was conditioned to keep quiet, to shove his fear behind a nervous smile and a busy attitude . As long as he stayed out of trouble he didn't have to tell anyone anything. That's why he'd kept quiet about knowing where Coen was. The man's name still brought a cold feeling into the boy's chest, a gnawing that made him want to hide somewhere where people couldn't see him. Thinking of the creature once known as his guardian made him anxious, his heart jumping in fear. He remembered Coen covered in blood, teeth bared like a cornered animal before he vanished with a popping of noise. No one had seen a brunette man with one arm since then, leaving the Pennell boy to move in with his attacker's mother, a woman who was equally hurt by Coen's violent behavior. Letters with Winny had exposed the man's whereabouts, hiding with his blonde lover while everyone slowly forgot about him. Taurus didn't dare tell his Grandmother about it, afraid of seeing her worry herself in trying to fix a world with Coen in it. He left it be, like a spider crawling across his wall of life.

Fear was producing movement from the boy, his hands trembling like they used to when he was left in a house with the murderer. His knees were locked very still, his arms frozen at his side. The door knocker started at him with contempt, a lion's head ready to consume the sheepish boy before it. One might wonder if the lion would be the merciful fate. With a very slow movement, the brunette reached up to grasp the beast's ring. Taking in a breath too big for his lungs, he sounded the hollow noise to summon a door opener.

He was there solely for the pair of siblings that lived inside the house with the monsters. They didn't deserve a banishment to the underworld, but somehow it seemed like the children drew the short straw. Taurus worried for them both, too aware of the fate that could befall people behind closed doors. His heart was prepared to go out if Winny appeared wearing bruises like they were band aids. Until the door was opened, he wouldn't be sure of anyone's fate in or outside the house.

Gwendolyn Frye

I’m not a princess

Usually she was hiding somewhere in the large house, somewhere where she wouldn’t get in trouble. She had only recently come out of her hiding space, which was surprising due to Nicki being gone. She wasn’t sure where he had went though. Anna seemed to be missing too, though she might just be with her cousin somewhere. She didn’t dare go look.

Winny tended to do her best to stay away from the adults. Though there were times they’d get to her and then Nicki would get angry. Nicki scared her when he was angry. He was like Belle sometimes, which is probably what scared her.

When faintly hearing a knocking noise, she quickly made her way to the door where the noise got louder. Without a word, the small girl carefully opened the door. She seemed surprised to see her friend, but also happy. She was always happy to see him.

The young Norwegian girl had a rather large bruise on her cheek, though that seemed to be the only one she sported.

At least, the only noticeable able at the time. Winny glanced behind herself before stepping to the side so Taurus could get by ”I don’t know where they are.” her mouse like voice somehow seemed quieter, as if they’d somehow hear her ”Nicki’s gone too.” she sounded scared at the mention of her brother not being there. He was essentially her protector in this house.

”Gwen, did you get the door?” just hearing the feminine voice made the girl freeze up. However, she answered almost immediately ”Y-Yes!” she called back, bitting her lip nervously afterwords. She seemed to calm after no reply came.

Winny looked back to Taurus ”Hi” she greeted at last, her hands somewhat clasped behind her back. Had he mentioned he was going to visit? Quite frankly, she couldn’t recall.

The boy's attention immediately settled on the flowering purple bruise, a smear of unneeded color across his friend's cheek. It was impossible to know who painted it on, but the dark colors made Winnie appear paler in comparison. His distress was obvious in the way his eyebrows creased and his mouth twitched down, concern and worry warping childish features.

Opening his mouth to say something, the brunette's voice vanished when a lighter one filtered out of the door. Stories were enough to make Belle frightening to him, she was a stranger he'd never been allowed to meet. She'd been able to intrigue Coen, which was dangerous enough for the boy's tastes. Her voice alone seemed to bring both children to a freeze, waiting carefully to see if a blonde haired woman would appear in the doorway like a haunting specter. The entrance remained empty, leaving them with a few more moments of peace.

Looking at the younger girl, he was surprised she hadn't been accompanied out of the house by her older brother. Nicki had been the one to suggest he come to visit. The extended school break had left Taurus in a house without friends and the Frye children in a house filled with fear. Winny probably needed it more then the boys, Taurus wouldn't doubt it for a second if she'd spend the last few weeks hiding in any dark corner that she could. It's what he used to do.

Her voice seemed quieter then he remembered, though it had always been a quiet thing - barely audible even when a room was quiet. Taurus had grown used to listening for the soft noise whenever Winny was in the room, careful not to let her feel forgotten because she was too quiet. "Hey Winny..." His attention was still one the bruise that crested her cheek. If they were different people, they might have hugged. However it had never been something their group grew into, they were all sensitive to physical touch after so many bad experiences with it.

"You look tired." It was an obvious statement. They always looked tired, weary from dealing with things kids shouldn't even know about, exhausted from spending every waking hour afraid of what was going to happen. A person's heart could only take that for so long before it began to show. "He hasn't bothered you, right?" He asked almost as if he could do something should she answer yes. He doubted Coen would take much notice of Winny. He found most women imbecilic, too caught up in their acting and petty manipulation to deserve his attention. He'd thought something similar of his own mother. Coen found her kind nature weak, but also that anyone else who found her attention was undeserving. Taurus had never understood the wrath Coen had for the woman who raised him, it was warped and mottled to the point that it was nothing but a grunge. Even his attention towards Luxe, he'd valued it for himself but found it grotesque when she offered her love to other people. In that man's eyes, everyone was pitiful and unworthy of attention. In an odd twisted way, Taurus hoped that's how he viewed Winny and Nicki.

Gwendolyn Frye

I’m not a princess

She noticed his attention go to the bruise on her cheek. "Nicki's eye looks like this too." she told him, seeming upset when she spoke. "His nose bled a lot too. Anna said he'll be okay though." He had stepped between Belle and Winny. Fought back against Belle. His injuries were the result of that. She pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear and looked behind her again. She didn't like when it was quiet.

"Do I?" She probably did look tired, but she didn't think so. However she was looking forward to this extended vacation being over. She liked school, it was safe there. She didn't have to look behind her lots. Plus she got to see all her new friends everyday. At his question about Coen, she shrugged. "He shouts. I think he's hurt Nicki but only because Nicki tried to hurt Belle." She explained, playing with the skirt of her dress. Always skirts or dresses. That's how her mother always made her dress, so that's how she continued to dress. Even now, she didn't want to somehow make her mother mad at her. Even knowing there was no way her mother would know.

Hearing her name again, she froze and quickly looked in the direction of the voice. She had been too quiet. Belle hadn't heard her. She was angry now, which was never good. Winny looked towards Taurus, clearly afraid. "Why am I so quiet?" she asked, as though it was the problem. Winny backed away from the door, there really wasn't a hiding spot nearby that she had found worked.

She looked quickly at Taurus "Coen's home. I haven't seen Anna though."

Coen De'Ath ━
TRIGGER WARNING FOR VIOLENCE/ABUSE & MINOR MENTION OF BLOOD
The man's temper had never been a pleasant thing, but in the few months since his last appearance out of the house it had steadily gotten worse. Rather then an occasional beast of wrath it was an ever lurking snake of venomous behavior. For those caught without Belle tended to suffer more then they normally did with Coen in the room. A creak of the floorboards was enough to insight violence from the man on the worst days, burns marking the floor where he'd sent spells flying at the children's feet. One could call the near hits warning shots, but it was more accurate to say that Coen wand welding had suffered since the accident.

His right arm had been obliterated completely, now left as a missing stump hidden beneath a sleeve, left his wand accuracy something to be desire. He'd formerly wielded with his right hand, which was now a past memory of pain left to freeze in some snow pile. The wound it's self was not to be mentioned by anyone in the house, something Belle couldn't even push. His mood soured on the subject, rotting it so much that his remaining hand would shake involuntarily.Even without the appendage, the man's tongue never faltered when it came to words and spells. He might miss on occasion but when he didn't it was never with something nice.

To make it all the better, simple tasks regularly left him in less then eloquent behavior. Plenty of his time was spent in the silent library where he wouldn't be disturbed in his pacing. It wasn't uncommon to find him staring out the windows, as though watching for anyone that might come stalking down the path to stuff his head on a spike. After his past family misfortunes, it wouldn't be surprising if someone did come storming down the path to blow the rest of him to smitherines, though in logical sense none of the family would have the nerve to try something like that. Besides, they'd be too fussy about hurting one of the children running about the house if they did. Coen couldn't be bothered by such an idea, other than when it concerned Belle and their child. The other two were just as disliked as his adopted son, if that's what he was suppose to call the little maggot at this point. Maggot might have been the nicest title he could offer.

Coen had taken to the sitting room with Belle for the afternoon, flipping through one of the old books that was kept on the shelves. With all the time he'd spent in the house he'd still only read through a few of them. Earlier he'd backhanded the older of the two brats they let run around the house, though since he hadn't heard or seen either of the Frye children. He didn't keep account of them, it didn't seem particularly odd to him.

Little movement stirred in the man's bones even when Belle yelled out of the room, inquiring about the knock that had thudded through the door's wood. If an answer had come he might not have been required to instinct a reaction, however no such thing came. His only movement was to pass a lazy glance over the blonde woman sitting next to him, observing in silence as she looked up to peer in the direction they both knew the door to be. He listened without expression when she called again, once more gaining no audible answer from the little pest she was paging. If Belle wasn't pregnant he imagined she would have already gracefully stalked out of the room to make an appearance, but the carrying of her child had lessened how much the woman cared to move - even in her agitation.

Without a word of signal Coen closed the book lightly and set it on the table before his chair, rising from his chair. He leaned over to peck a kiss on the top of the blonde woman's head, as if it might do anything to comfort her temper, before he strolled from the room. The door was noticeably hung ajar as he strolled to it, possibly signalling that the measly brat had been snatched up by whoever bothered to knock in the first place. Showing no concern for the thought, Coen's fingers traced around the door edge to move it open more then the little girl had needed to slip out. "Gwendolyn," He'd never taken to calling her Winnie, it didn't suit his dialect,"Belle was speaking to you." There was a certain edge to the words, as if he was accusing the little girl a breaking a rule of their house and she knew it. His attention hadn't landed on the brunette boy yet when he spoke.

His attention never kept long to the Hufflepuff girl, he didn't find her very intriguing or meaningful in any sort of way. It was a blessing and a curse for her, considering it meant he either left her alone or was more then willing to shred her to bits like a leaf. Coen's cold glare settled on the boy stood next to Winny, who remained a few spaces shorter than her even after a multitude of months. The child's eyes were looking directly at his face, open wide to express the pure terror emitting from his young heart. Coen's own reaction was just as obvious, though particularly less pleasant than the child's.

As he took in the sight his teeth bared in almost a snarl, like a stray animal caught in something. His eyes were never nice, but narrowed they became pinpoints of colorless demise. Spindling fingers left their grip on the door to snatch around the frozen child's throat, conjuring his first sound since Coen had appeared - a startled gasp for air before his windpipe was grabbed. Small hands grabbed at his wrist has Coen's hand began to clasp tighter around the boy's throat, his own fury pulling strings to draw his fingers closer into a first. Winnie was forgotten in the seconds it had taken him to the boy.

"Coen..." It took a desperate swallowing of air for the boy to manage even that as his windpipe was clenched for the second time in his life. The plea was desperate, especially for someone so familiar with Coen's temper. It brought only a cruel smile, baring teeth like a monster from under the bed. Swinging his arm, Coen sent the gasping child stumbling towards the half opened door, a painful thud sounding when the boy crashed into it. The look on Coen's face was ecstatic fury, the look of someone who could already taste blood without inflicting a single wound. "Look at that, there's a pathetic maggot writhing on my doorstep." Mockery dripped from each word as the man grin widely, drawing his wand from his pocket with slow delight.

Taurus was curled with his back to the door, hands over his throbbing head while the world continued to spin and pulsate for him. The pain in his shoulders, back, and throat, hadn't fully formed yet. He was heaving for the air that had been denied moments earlier, lungs burning with every dry breathe he took. It was more then obvious he hadn't heard Coen, but he'd managed to look up at the standing beast. The wand pointed at him was deadly as the man holding it, but Taurus' fear kept him rooted in the snowy spot he'd landed.

The Fryes

Gwendolyn & Nicolai

The small girl jumped hearing her name and slowly looked up at the speaker. She frowned and looked towards where she had heard her cousin's voice come from. She was somewhat grateful it wasn't Belle yelling at her, though Coen wasn't much better. Especially right now, he scared her a bit more than Belle did. "I'm sorry." She squeaked, though that most likely wouldn't mean much.

When nothing happened, she cautiously looked back at Coen only to see he was looking at Taurus. She already knew that wasn't good. That was worrying. Though it got worse. He was, quite possibly, going to kill Taurus. The usually reserved girl grabbed Coen's arm and tried to pull him away from Taurus, though it obviously wasn't of much use to her friend. She wasn't super strong. "Stop it Coen!" She shouted, surprisingly at a much more normal sounding volume than her usual voice. "Belle!" Her cousin wouldn't do anything. But she was worried about her friend.

With a stronger force pulling the girl back, she watched Taurus stumble into the door. She stayed where she was under said stronger force pushed her towards her little friend. She did go over and knelt down next to him, looking over at Coen only to see there was a wand pointed at the other first year.

The stronger force at work spoke up soon after Coen spoke "That's funny, last I checked this wasn't your manor, shitface" the familiar male voice seemed to calm Winny, though what it said made her worried for her brother. The older boy was back, his eye bruised like Winny said.

He looked from Coen to the wand he had pointed at Taurus with a raised brow. He then looked towards the manor "Hey Belle" he called, waiting a few minutes before getting a hello back. For some reason their demon cousin liked him more than Winny, more than most their family. His uncle did too, it was weird. But hey, he'd use it to his advantage.

"I feel like there's something ironic in you about to kill a child" He told Coen while his sister very much hoped he'd shut up. He then looked over at Taurus and Winny "Does Taurus know? No?...Well that makes sense, he's never met my cousin." he winked at Taurus with a stupid smirk on his face before putting his attention back onto Coen. Belle knew he was home, so he wasn't too worried as to what Coen may do to him. He just hoped he'd leave the two first years alone.
